- Here is a basic install using the Shark Attack II in the factory
antenna hole and the factory antenna cable and power wire. This
is a basic install that takes roughly 30 min.
|
| |
- Start off by removing the inner trunk panel, there are four
plastic push clips that hold it in. Be carful of the power wire
that goes to your trunk light, you do not want to yank it out
of the light and possibly damage the light.
|
| |
- Remove the factory power antenna by removing the external
mast fastening nut , you can get a special antenna tool from
NAPA or you can use "other" methods.
|
| |
- Unplug the connectors from the trunk release and the power antenna,
also unplug the factory antenna cable.
|
| |
Next unscrew the three 10mm bolts
that hold the power antenna and the power trunk release. Drop this
assembly down for now. Do not pull the cable that goes from the
power trunk release to the trunk mechanism. |
| |
On the inside of the trunk is a
rubber plug that was for the power antenna to go to the outer body
panel and protrude out, remove this. |
| |
What is not pictured is putting
the Shark Attack II antenna in the hole and carefully installing
the fastening nut through the hole pictured above where the plug
was. |
| |
Then you can connect the factory
antenna cable to the antenna base. Now check to see if you have
an extra wire besides the antenna cable, if not you are done. If
yes then one more step. |
| |
The power wire will connect to
the pink with a white stripe wire from the factory power antenna
plug. I recommend a blue butt connector, a wire nut or a pig tail
with electrical tape will do the job also. Do not cut the wire too
close to the plug, you may want to put the old antenna back. |

Here is a job well done, now getting
the nut onto the antenna base through the inner and outer panel
doesn't seem that hard any more. |
