Here is a basic install using the long mast Fuba Betaflex-D
in the factory antenna hole on a S13 240SX hatch. This is a basic
install that takes roughly 20 min.
Take some pliers and grip the metal ring on the top, it turns
counter clockwise to remove. be careful not to peel the paint,
these pieces might be painted to the car. The new antenna will
cover the paint marks.
on the left side of the hatch are five 10mm bolts, remove
all five. The two front ones are for the antenna power motor
assembly the other three are for the jack bracket (put this
back later if you want to keep it, it might come in handy some
time)
Collect all the pieces that come in the bag and remove the nuts
and washers from the bottom of the antenna. The plastic grommet
will not be used for this install, it is for protecting the antenna
cable through a sheet metal hole.
Above: make sure the antenna base gasket is in place before
mounting.
Side: Place the smooth washer on the antenna cable, then the
lock washer then the nut, it is easier to slide them on one at
a time. Also you want to slide the red power wire through first
then the motorola connector.
Above: hold the antenna from the top and slide the washers and
the nut into place from the bottom, tighten them by hand. Clock
the antenna by rotating the base till the antenna mast is at the
desired angle, then tighten the nut.
Side: Connect the antenna cable into the factory connector and
then splice the red antenna AMP power wire into the factory antenna
power wire (it needs to be on when the radio is on) this one was
blue with a red stripe on the two pin harness.
